SÖCHTING Dosator

The SÖCHTING Dosator allows for regular fertilization of your aquarium plants while providing the necessary oxygen.

This Söchting set automatically provides fertilizer to aquatic plants for aquariums up to 500 liters.

Why is regular fertilization so important for your aquarium plants?
Aquarium plants also need nutrients, which they absorb both through their roots and the surface of their leaves. For photosynthesis, plants need chlorophyll, and its formation requires iron ions dissolved in the water. However, in water rich in oxygen, which fish need, these iron ions precipitate quickly. This is why it is essential to regularly add iron ions to an aquarium where fish and plants live together.

In natural environments, this can occur due to oxygen-deficient seepage water, where iron remains dissolved. In aquariums, continuous fertilization is necessary. However, since a high concentration of dissolved iron can be harmful, it is best to add it in small, frequent doses, ideally continuously, as in seepage water.

The SÖCHTING DOSATOR achieves this ideal by automatically, continuously, and evenly dosing a solution containing iron ions.

A gentle flow, generated by a filter or heater, for example, is sufficient to distribute the fertilizer throughout the aquarium.

Fertilizers with this SÖCHTING Dosator :
SÖCHTING's special fertilizer contains, in addition to iron and manganese ions, which are essential catalysts for chlorophyll formation, potassium and magnesium ions, which are essential for plant cell structure.

How to use the SÖCHTING Dosator ?
- Unscrew the ceramic lid from the acrylic cup and remove the small container (float).
- Remove the brown lid and fill the float with the Mini-OXYDATOR solution up to the engraved top rim. Close the float and place it in the acrylic cup.
- Pour the amount of SÖCHTING Special Fertilizer corresponding to the volume of your aquarium (10 ml per 100 liters) into the acrylic cup using the bottle provided, then top up with water (including aquarium water) to just below the reinforced rim.
- Close the acrylic cup with the ceramic lid and place the DOSATOR, lid facing down (the float should always be oriented with the brown lid facing up; if it accidentally tips over, shake gently until it floats properly), in a current-carrying area of your aquarium, such as near the filter outlet or heater.
- After about 4 to 6 weeks (depending on the water temperature), the acrylic cup will be empty and the fertilizer will be used up. Proceed as for initial operation.

SÖCHTING Dosator Contents:
The Söchting Dosator comes complete with a bottle of Söchting Special Fertilizer (50 ml) and a bottle of 4.9% Oxidizing Solution (82.5 ml).

Our aquarium expert's tip :
You can also use the DOSATOR to dose any other liquid solution (coral nutrient solution, mineral complexes, extracts, etc.) without any problem. The acrylic cup can hold a maximum of 100 ml of solution, which is released within 4 weeks at a temperature of 25°C. At higher temperatures, the operating time decreases, while at lower temperatures, it increases.
