AQUARIUM SYSTEMS SeaTest Nitrites (NO2)

Reference 219006 from AQUARIUM SYSTEMS is a complete set for measuring the nitrite content present in water.
Food waste, fish droppings and other organic matter containing nitrogen are broken down by bacteria into ammonium during the nitrogen cycle, and then into toxic nitrites.
These are then transformed by other beneficial bacteria to become harmless nitrates in low concentrations.
In a well-functioning pond or aquarium, the nitrite content should be less than 0.3 mg/l.
During the start-up phase of an aquarium or pond, i.e. when the nitrifying bacteria are not yet sufficiently developed, regular checking is essential to prevent poisoning.
