There are different types of fish feeders to make life easier for all aquarists.
- The most economical ones will allow you to distribute live food such as bloodworms, tubifex and other insects that can pass through the sieve.
- Battery-operated dispensers are the most common and easiest to use, as they allow you to set the food distribution cycles.
They also have a long battery life while keeping food dry.

Some models will allow you to choose between feeding flake or pellet food.
The most sophisticated models have additional functions such as a heating drum to prevent the flakes from clumping together, and a light sensor that can be deactivated to stop distribution at nightfall.
